GO to His World: As a part of our overall vision for Grace we will endeavor to be a launching pad to take God’s Great Commission, “to go to all the world and make disciples,” as a mandate for us all to be involved in reconciling all the world to Christ….To the ends of the Earth!
I. International Ministry Fast Facts and Highlights
Global missions and ministry has always been an important part of Grace’s outreach, and reaching beyond the borders of our own country has allowed us to meet, befriend, evangelize and disciple people from many nations across the world. Check out some highlights of our international adventures below:
- We are a Global Priority Church listed with the International Mission Board (IMB).
- 2009 topped more than 50 people going on international mission trips consistent with the past three years.
- Approximately 10 Grace family members currently serve as missionaries overseas in Peru, Central Asia, the United Kingdom and Malawi. - We are a Strategy Coordinator Church for the Wanka Quechua people of Peru working with the REAP North team of the IMB.
Global Connections
Turkey: We have grown and developed a partnership with international workers in Turkey for the last twelve years, where we pass out Bibles and Jesus films and share the Gospel when opportunities arise.
Honduras: In the past thirteen years we have partnered with local pastors and associations in Honduras developing the Atlantida Baptist Association, we have trained 15 local pastors in discipleship strategy and helped cultivate new work through Honduran Baptist churches. True Love Waits: True Love Waits continues to be an emphasis for members of Grace and we are involved through Ministries with Lifeway Christian Resources in over ten African countries and the Philippines.
Peru: Since December 2007, we have been a Strategy Coordinator Church with REAP North in South America, a team from the International Mission Board. The following missionaries are missionaries around the world with roots in Grace Ministries:
Jeremy and Crystal Nelson – Peru Mindy McCord - Peru David and Cameron Olson- Peru Chad and Miriam Pumpelly – Malawi Doug and Marcy Shaw
There are four others that work in restricted areas of the world.
II. Peruvian Partnership
Working through REAP North, our (primary) focus in Peru is with the Wanka Quechua people group.
In the past two years of ministries with the Wanka Quechua people, two groups of new believers have been established in two villages, San Jose de Quero and Usibamba. San Jose de Quero highlights
• More than 25 people are meeting regularly for weekly Bible study and discipleship.
• Grace’s first baptisms came in November 2008 with six people being baptized, including a town leader and his wife.
• Two major dental clinics were also held during November of 2008 and 2009 and many people from several small mountain towns have been helped and heard the Gospel. Many have become new Believers of Christ.
Usibamba highlights
• After repeated visits to Usibamba there is a small group of new believers meeting regularly to study the Bible and growing as His disciples. New leadership is being developed in that village that could result in new groups in at least two new villages.
III. Peru in 2010
During 2010 there are ten trips planned for smaller teams to focus on discipling, leadership training, and establishing new churches in Usibamba and San Jose de Quero. One was in January and one is in Peru as this is being written in March.
Three new villages are being approached about beginning new ministry in these villages.
Evangelistic outreaches will be the initial plan for these villages.
Details of these trips are still in the planning stages. Please check with Larry Pumpelly (Larry Pumpelly) for more information.
